EDWIN I. HATCH NUCLEAR PLANT, UNIT NO. 2 - CORRECTION OF AMENDMENT NO. 235 RE: ADOPTION OF TSTF-542, REVISION 2, "REACTOR PRESSURE VESSEL WATER INVENTORY CONTROL (EPID L-2017-LLA-0215)

Dear Ms. Gayheart:

On May 31, 2018, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued Amendment No. 235 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML18123A368) to Renewed Facility Operating License NPF-5 for the Edwin I. Hatch Nuclear Plant (HNP) Unit No. 2. The amendment replaced the existing requirements in several technical specifications (TSs) related to operations with a potential for draining the reactor vessel with revised TSs providing alternative requirements in new TS 3.5.2, "Reactor Pressure Vessel (RPV) Water Inventory Control," and associated changes.

The NRC staff has confirmed that Amendment No. 235 for HNP, Unit No. 2 contained a typographical error on TS page 3.5-8 in Required Action D.1 states "TAF or~ 36 hours4.166667e-4 days <br />0.01 hours <br />5.952381e-5 weeks <br />1.3698e-5 months <br />" instead of "TAF for~ 36 hours4.166667e-4 days <br />0.01 hours <br />5.952381e-5 weeks <br />1.3698e-5 months <br />."

The NRC staff found that the markup of page TS 3.5-8 correctly had "for" in Required Action D.1 in the licensee's letter dated April 20, 2017 (ADAMS Accession No. ML17114A377), and determined that the error was inadvertently introduced and were not the subject of the amendment or the associated notice to the public. Therefore, consistent with NRC staff guidance dated January 16, 1997 (ADAMS Accession No. ML103260096), based on the NRC's policy established by SECY-96-238, these errors can be corrected by a letter to the licensee from the NRC staff.

Enclosed please find the corrected HNP, Unit No. 2 TS page 3.5-8. This correction does not change any of the conclusions in the safety evaluation associated with Amendment No. 235.
