REPORT RELATED TO THE ENVIRONMENTAL SCOPING PROCESS FOR THE INTERIM STORAGE PARTNERS LLC CONSOLIDATED INTERIM STORAGE FACILITY APPLICATION (DOCKET NUMBER: 72-1050)
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff conducted a scoping process from November 16, 2016 through April 28, 2017, and from September 4, 2018 to November 19, 2018, to determine the scope of the NRC staffs environmental review of an application from Interim Storage Partners LLC to construct and operate a consolidated interim storage facility in Andrews County, Texas.
As part of the scoping process, the NRC staff held two public scoping meetings and webinars at the NRC headquarters in Rockville, Maryland, on February 23, 2017, and April 6, 2017. The staff also held two public, in-person public scoping meetings in Texas and New Mexico. The dates and locations for these meetings were (1) February 13, 2017, in Hobbs, New Mexico; and (2) February 15, 2017, in Andrews, Texas. The meetings were held to solicit public input regarding the scope of the environmental review. Transcripts from each meeting along with digital versions of the handouts and the NRC presentations can be found on the NRC website at (https://www.nrc.gov/waste/spent-fuel-storage/cis/wcs/public-meetings.html).
