Purpose:

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff will meet with the public to discuss the NRCs assessment of safety performance at Indian Point, Units 2 and 3 for 2018, as described in the NRCs annual assessment letter dated March 4, 2019.

NRC Attendees:

Ray Lorson, Deputy Regional Administrator Mohamed Shams, Acting Deputy Director, Division of Reactor Projects Bruce Watson, Chief, Reactor Decommissioning Branch, Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards Daniel Schroeder, Chief, Projects Branch 2, Division of Reactor Projects Brian Haagensen, Senior Resident Inspector, Indian Point Meeting

Contact:

Daniel Schroeder, Chief, Projects Branch 2 (610) 337-5262 E-mail: Daniel.Schroeder@nrc.gov Public Participation: This is a Category 3 Meeting, at which the public is invited to ask questions or provide comments.

Following the NRCs presentation, at about 7:30 p.m., the NRC will host a question and answer session with the public. Each speaker will be limited to three minutes in order to accommodate as many speakers as possible.

Members of the public may enter the Grand Ballroom beginning at 6:00 p.m. Prior to that, access to the Ballroom will be limited to NRC staff and those under contract to the NRC.

Beginning at 6:30 p.m., NRC staff will be available to discuss issues related to Indian Point in the area outside the Grand Ballroom.

The NRC staff will conduct the meeting in an orderly fashion and will

2 endeavor to engender an environment that encourages respectful discussion. Threatening language will not be tolerated, and will be cause for removal by local law enforcement. In addition, individuals who repeatedly disrupt the meeting will be removed by local law enforcement.

The meeting will be facilitated by Brett Klukan, Regional Counsel for NRC Region I.

Members of the public who wish to speak during the meeting will be required to sign up, beginning at 6:00 p.m., prior to entering the Grand Ballroom. The order of public speakers will be determined by random selection, so there is no need to line up prior to 6:00 p.m. to reserve a place in the speaking order.

Because the NRC staff will be using a projector and laptop for the opening presentation, public attendees will be permitted to display up to three slides or pages (in PDF or PowerPoint format) when speaking.

Slides must be emailed to Brett.Klukan@nrc.gov no later than June 17, 2019. Due to computer security concerns, the NRC will not be able to accept electronic media onsite. The submission of slides does not guarantee any particular spot in the speaking order, which will be determined by random selection.

For security purposes, local law enforcement officers will be conducting searches of personal items (briefcases, purses, backpacks, equipment cases, etc.) and performing random screenings outside the entry into the Grand Ballroom. No weapons of any kind are permitted in the meeting room. Any props brought into the Grand Ballroom should be fairly lightweight (i.e., would not injure a person if thrown or swung with force) and should not contain metal fixtures or sharp edges.

Signs, banners, posters, and displays not larger than 18 x 18 are permitted in the meeting room. In the interest of public safety, signs affixed to any sticks, poles, or other similar devices are strictly prohibited.

The hotel will provide a limited number of tables for use by the public in advance of the meeting in a designated area outside the Grand Ballroom.

These tables are available on a first-come basis and cannot be reserved in advance.
