Dear Mr. Denton:
Serial No. 408 PO/HSM:wbh Docket Nos. 50-280 50-281 License Nos. DPR-32 DPR-37 In the NRC's letter of May 9, 1979 from Mr. Charles E. Murphy, Chief Reactor Construction and Engineering Support Branch, Inspection Report No. 50-281/79-30 concerning the Steam Generator Replacement at Surry was forwarded to us.
We have reviewed this report and have noted two items which we feel should be re-vised.
On page two of the report in Item 1 the cutting of the steam generator is dis-cussed.
The method utilized for this process was a flame c~t (oxygen-acetylene) rather than the "Plasma-arc Process" referenced in the report.
On page three of the report in Item 2, the decontamination procedure used would be better described as electro-polishing rather than "a reverse plating process".
If you require further information on this matter, please contact us.
HSM/wbh cc:
Mr. James P. O'Reilly, Director Very truly yours,
