Dear Mr. Purple:
On December 30, 1974, we received from you an Order for Modification of License for the Surry Power Station Units 1 and 2, pertaining to our proposed Technical Specifications which were submitted pursuant to.Section 50.46 and Appendix K of 1.0 CFR 50.
According to paragraph 1 of Section III of the Order, we are required to submit a re-evaluation of the ECCS cooling performance calculated in accordance with an acceptable evaluation model which conforms with the provisions of 10 CFR Part 50, 50.46, such as the Westinghouse evaluation model as modified in accordance with changes described in the Staff Safety Evaluation Report to the Surry Power Station, Units 1 and 2, dated December 27, 1974.
This re-evaluation must be submitted as soon as practicable, out in no event later than July 9, 1975, or 45 days prior to initiation of operation following any core reloading, whichever occurs first.
At present we plan to refuel Unit No. 2 in April and May of 1975, resuming operat~on about June 1, 1975, and Unit No. 1 in October and November of 1975, resuming operation about December 1, 1975.
In accordance with this schedule and the requirements of the Order, we plan to submit the required ECCS re-evaluation for Unit No. 2 by April 15, 1975 and for Unit No. 1 by July 9, 1975.
