.l.1, \\. Mr. K. R. Goller, Assistant Director Serial No. 560* LQA/WFB:cel for Operating Reactors Division of Reactor Licensing Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D. C. 20555 Docket Nos. 50-280 50-281 License Nos. DPR-32 DPR-37
Dear Mr. Goller:
This is in response to a request by Mr. M. Fairtile of the NRC staff and supplements our letters of June 6 and June 9, 1975 with respect to information submitted concerning the ECCS reanalysis for Surry Units 1 and 2. The following supplemental information confirms that transmitted by our Mr. W. F. Bennett to Mr. M. Fairtile of the NRC staff on June 10, 1975:
- a.
- b.
TS 3.3-3 (Attachment to Vepco letter Serial No. 500-S, 6/6/75): In Section 11, the phrase "shall be blocked open by de-energizing the valve motor operator" is to be regarded as synonymous with the phrase "rack out the circuit breaker to the valve motor operator" as this phrase was used during the June 6, 1975 meeting in Bethesda. TS 3.3-3 (Attachment to Vepco letter Serial No. 500-S, 6/6/75): In Section 10, add the following motor operated valves to the column for Unit No. 1: MOV 1890A, MOV 1890B. To the listing of motor operated valves in the column for Unit No. 2, add the following: MOV 2890A, MOV 2890B. TS 3.3-5 (Attachment to Vepco letter Serial No. 500-S, 6/6/75): In Section 9, change "24 hours" to read "4*hours." Analysis of Potential Boron Precipitation During Post-LOCA Long Term Cooling (Attachment to Vepco letter Serial No. 500-S, 6/6/75): This will confirm that only hot leg injection will be utilized. With respect to Emergency Procedure EP-2 and the switchover requirement, it is estimated that the time to switchover will be less than 30 minutes. Pipe Loop Seals - No designed pipe loop seals are located in the safety injection system between the refueling water storage tank and the containment sump.}}
