Exelon Generation CCN: 19-61 April 12, 2019 U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission ATTN: Document Control Desk Washington, DC 20555-0001 Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station (PBAPS), Units 2 and 3 Renewed Facility Operating License Nos. DPR-44 and DPR-56 NRC Docket Nos. 50-277 and 50-278
Subject:
Notification of Readiness for NRC 95001 Inspection (EA-18-107)
Reference:
Letter from David C. Lew (NRC) to Bryan Hanson (Exelon), Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station - Final Significance Determination for a White Finding with Assessment Follow-up and Notice of Violation - Inspection Report Nos.
05000277/2018013 AND 05000278/2018013," dated December 11, 2018 (ADAMS Accession No. ML18341A206)
In the referenced letter, Exelon Generation Company, LLC (Exelon) was informed that a finding associated with the failure to correct a degraded condition associated with the E-3 Emergency Diesel Generator (EOG) scavenging air check valve failure on June 13, 2018 is appropriately characterized as a White finding of low to moderate safety significance. As a result of the White finding, the NRC has assessed Peach Bottom Units 2 and 3 to be in the Regulatory Response column of the NRC's Reactor Oversight Process Action Matrix described in Inspection Manual Chapter 0305, "Operating Reactor Assessment Program,"
retroactive to the third calendar quarter of 2018.
Because of being assessed in the Regulatory Response Column of the NRC's Action Matrix, the NRC informed Exelon of its plans to conduct a supplemental inspection using Inspection Procedure 95001, "Supplemental Inspection Response to Action Matrix Column 2 Inputs,"
following Exelon's notification to the NRC of its readiness for this inspection.
This letter serves as notification of Exelon's readiness for a supplemental inspection using NRC IP 95001 at the Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station as requested by the referenced letter.
