Mr. Edson G. Case, Acting Director Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation

u. s. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D. C. 20555 License Nos. DPR-32 Attn: Mr. Robert W. Reid, Chief Operating Reactors Branch

Dear Mr. Case:

(l;Uij11Rl _~Ot~[ Htt't!WJ This is in response to your request for a review of our diesel generator alarm and control circuitry. The review has been completed with all aspects of possible diesel generator operational conditions considered. The answers to your questions (a), (b) and (c) are contained in the attachment.

As shown in the attachment, there are three main annunciators per diesel generator in the control room. In the event of a diesel generator problem, the NRG licensed control room operator is capable of interpreting the information available. Another operation's person is then dispatched to the diesel generator to further discern the problem and to report back to the control room so that corrective action may be properly started.

Therefore, the present annunciation of diesel generator problems is adequate.

Questions (d) and (e) are answered below:

In response to question (d), there is no condition that would render the diesel incapable of responding to an emergency start signal which is not alarmed in the control room.

I In response to question (e), as no deficiencies were found in either the alarm or the control circuitry of the diesel generators, there are no proposed modifications.

yours, Attachment cc: Mr. Norman C. Moseley
