Serial No. 064A/013078 PO&M/DLB:das This is in response to IE Bulletin 78-02 regarding terminal block qualifi-cation.

This area of concern was brought to our attention on January 27, 1978 by Mr. M. B. Fairtile of the Division of Operating Reactors.

As we discussed with Mr. Fairtile on January 28, 1978, Surry Unit Nos. 1 and 2 and North Anna Unit No. 1 do not use any unprotected terminal blocks in the containment in safety circuits which must operate during or subsequent to a LOCA.

All such connections are enclosed in protective boxes.
