APR 9 1968 This_ responds to the questions of your staff as to whether we would object to the issuance of a construction permit for the Surry Power Station, Units 1 and 2, Docket Nos. 50-280 and 50-281, before the answers are provided to questions raised in our letter of February 12 concerning the applicant's proposed radiological program.
We understand that lack of finality in design and operating criteria for these units makes it essentially impossib_le to present clear answers to these questions at this time.
Therefore*,
we have no objection to the issuance of a construction permit before the questions are answered.
We suggest that the applicant provide the answers to questions raised in our letter of February 12 during consultation with the Service as contemplated under recommendation No. 1 of our letter of September 8, 1967.
