Docket Nos. 50-280 50-281 In Mr. Gordon K. Dicker 1s letter.of May 28, 1975, we were requested to monitor the impingement of aquatic organisms during dredging in connection with construction a*ctivities associated with Surry u'nits 3 an*d 4.

However, this channel deepening is now required to insure an adequate circulating water supply for Surry Uni'ts 1 and 2 *. The dredging is beginning this month *and we hereby are providing the schedule for th'e.monitoring program that will be con-ducted during theie dredging operations.

Data th~t reiult*from this program will be iniluded in th~ r6utine operating repbrts.

Should gross changis in population species composition or abundance become evident, a nonroutine report will be filed within.thirty days of the occurrence.

'SURRY.POWER STATION

.. IMPINGEMENT.SAMPLING PROGRAM DURING DREDGING.OPERATIONS The followi_ng program, designed to sample fishes impi_nged on the low-level screens at Surry Power Station, shall be implemented during intake channel dredging operations:

1.

Two consecutive 5-minute samples will be taken duri_ng the morning hours, five days each week.

2.* Two consecutive 5-minute samp_les will be taken during the afternoon hours, five days a week.

3.

This schedule shall commence on the first day of d*redging operatlons and terminate on the last day of dredging operations.at which time the sampling schedule as set forth in TS 4.13.E shall be implemented.
