UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION WASHINGTON, D.C. 20555-0001 March 28, 2019 Rodrigo V. Rimando, Jr.

Director of Technology Development U.S. Department of Energy Office of Environmental Management 1000 Independence Ave, SW Washington, DC 20585

Dear Mr. Rimando:

Thank you for presenting at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commissions (NRC) 31st Annual Regulatory Information Conference (RIC), held March 12-14, 2019, at the Bethesda Marriott Hotel in Rockville, Maryland.

Your remarks during our technical session TH37, entitled, New and Innovative Technologies for Decommissioning and Remediation of Nuclear Facilities" were both interesting and informative and your presentation on the use of the RadPiper in decommissioning at the Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant added an interesting perspective to the session. We very much appreciate your contribution to a successful session.

Video recordings captured during the Opening Session, the Commissioner Plenary Sessions, the Special Guest Speaker Session and the Regional Session are available to the public at https://video.nrc.gov/. Additionally, audio recordings, transcripts, and presentations received while onsite are currently being compiled and will be posted on the RIC website at https://www.nrc.gov/public-involve/conference-symposia/ric/index.html in the next few weeks.

We hope you enjoyed the RIC and we are energized to continue our course of using innovative ideas to further enhance the program for future RICs. Tell us what you thought by providing your feedback either on the RIC website or through the NRC RIC app.

Again, thank you for your participation and we hope you will join us next year for the 32nd Annual RIC, March 10-12, 2020.

Sincerely,

/RA/

Raymond Furstenau, Director Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research
