SUBJECT:
U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION REVIEW OF EXPORT LICENSE APPLICATION XSNM3789
Dear Mr. Medina:
I am writing to update you on the status of your export license application (XSNM3789). The application is currently under review by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), for the authorization to export 8,262,325 kilograms of low enriched uranium (LEU) to South Korea for conversion and fabrication into fuel by Korea Electric Power Company. Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) 110.40(d), states in part, if the Commission has not completed action on a license application within 60 days after receipt of the Executive Branch (EB) judgement, the NRC is required to inform the applicant in writing of the reason for the delay.
The NRC received the initial EB judgment on November 27, 2018, but additional time is needed for NRC staff and management to complete its review of the export application.
You may contact Janice Owens, the licensing officer assigned to your case, at any time.
Ms. Owens can be reached at (301) 287-9096 or Janice.Owens@nrc.gov.
Sincerely, 3/7/2019 X Peter J. Habighorst Peter J. Habighorst Signed by: Peter J. Habighorst Peter J. Habighorst, Chief Export Controls and Nonproliferation Branch Office of International Programs
