CANCELLATION AND RETURN OF FINANCIAL ASSURANCE FOR GENERAL ELECTRIC COMPANYS LICENSE NUMBERS: SNM-1097, SNM-960, SNM-2500, SNM-1826, TR-1, DR-10, DPR-1, AND R-33
Dear Ms. Miller:
This letter is to inform the General Electric Company (GE) that the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is returning the superseded financial assurance GE provided to the NRC with respect to GEs NRC License Numbers: SNM-1097 (Global Nuclear Fuels - Americas, LLC), SNM-960 (GE-Hitachi Nuclear Energy Americas, LLC, Vallecitos Nuclear Center),
SNM-2500 (GE-Hitachi Nuclear Energy, LLC, Morris Operation), SNM-1826 (Reuter Stokes Facility), TR-1 (GE-Hitachi Nuclear Energy, LLC, GETR Reactor), DR-10 (GE-Hitachi Nuclear Energy, LLC, EVESR Reactor), DPR-1 (GE-Hitachi Nuclear Energy, LLC, VBWR Reactor), and R-33 (GE-Hitachi Nuclear Energy, LLC, NTR Reactor).
By letter dated January 7, 2019 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System
[ADAMS] Accession Number ML19014A161), you provided a Notice of Cancellation of Parent Company Guarantee Funds for Decommissioning. The financial assurance previously provided in connection with these licenses was a Parent Company Guarantee (PCG) issued by GE.
By letter dated March 27, 2018, GE submitted surety bonds to replace its PCG as financial assurance for its GE Electric Facilities licenses (ADAMS Accession Number ML18087A172).
The GE replacement surety bonds were reviewed and approved by NRC staff on August 9, 2018 (ADAMS Accession Number ML18218A097).
GE is no longer required to maintain the PCG with respect to these NRC licenses. Therefore, NRC is now cancelling and returning the superseded PCG that was provided to NRC for these facilities.
In accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Section 2.390 of the NRCs Agency Rules of Practice and Procedure, a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records component of NRCs ADAMS. ADAMS is accessible from the NRC Web site at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html.
