PUBLIC MEETING BETWEEN WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC COMPANY LLC AND THE US NRC REGION Ill MANAGEMENT
Dear Mr. Dent:
This letter confirms our discussion on June 6, 2003, regarding the scheduling of a meeting with NRC Region Ill and Westinghouse Electric Company, LLC (Westinghouse) management on June 19, 2003, at 1 :30 p.m. CDT, in the Region Ill Office, 801 Warrenville Road, Suite 255, Lisle, Illinois. The purpose of this public meeting will be to discuss Westinghouse's actions to address recent issues concerning material control and accounting at the Hematite fuel fabrication facility.
As we discussed with you during a conference call on June 11, 2003, at the June 19th meeting you should be prepared to fully address material control and accounting issues identified by Westinghouse on March 24, 2003, and May 28, 2003. Specifically, you should discuss the cause(s) for the loss of accountability, the status of your root cause investigations, the extent of condition, and your corrective action(s) to ensure you have identified and accounted for all radioactive material on site. This includes providing a timeline for the completion of a satisfactory physical inventory at the site.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter and its enclosure will be made available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the NRC's document system (ADAMS), accessible from the NRC Web site at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html.
