With regard to the subject LAR dated October 19, 2018, titled, Request for License Amendment: Column Line 1 Wall Reinforcement Area Change, and designated License Amendment Request (LAR)18-026 the Southern Nuclear Operating Company, Inc., requested that the U.S. NRC amend the combined license (COL) for Vogtle Electric Generating Plant (VEGP) Unit 3 only (COL Number NPF-91). The subject LAR may be viewed at NRCs public website at ADAMS ML18292A660.

The amendment request proposes changes in the form of departures from the generic AP1000 Design Control Document Tier 2* information in the VEGP Tier 2 Updated Final Safety Analysis Report to reflect changes to the vertical reinforcement information provided in the Unit 3 VEGP column line 1 wall, from elevation 135 0 to 137 0.

The Notice of Consideration of Issuance for this LAR was published in the Federal Register on November 20, 2018 (83 FR 58607) and contained the proposed no significant hazards consideration determination. This notice may be found at https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/FR-2018-11-20/pdf/2018-24894.pdf The amendment meets the eligibility criteria for categorical exclusion set forth in 10 CFR 51.22(c)(9). Pursuant to 10 CFR 51.22(b), no environmental impact statement or environmental assessment needs to be prepared in connection with the issuance of the amendment. The NRC is in process of finalizing its review of this LAR. Please provide your comments to me by February 19, 2019.
