I NRC IE BULLETIN NO. 78-06 DEFECTIVE CUTLER HAMMER, TYPE M. RELAYS WITH DC COILS NO. 1 AND 2 UNITS SALEM NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION July 6, 1978 In reply to NRC IE ~ulletin No. 78-06 dated May 31, 1978 and received on June 5, 1978, we offer the following response:
Our investigation pursuant to the use of the subject relay in safety-related equipment, or in areas wherein fires have the potential for damaging safety equipment, revealed that the Salem facilities do not utilize Cutler Hammer Type M Relays and there is no planned use.
The investigation consisted of a review of drawings and specifications for both units and a survey of installed electrical *equipment in Salem No. 2 Unit.
Should additional information be desired, we will be pleased to further discuss it with you.
