Pursuant to the request of the Nuclear Regulatory Cormnission Staff, enclosed is a Supplemental Affidavit of Robert L. Mittl updating the information contained in his affidavit dated September 17, 1976 which was submitted in support of "Applicant's Memorandum on the Request of the Environmental Coalition on Nuclear Power to Suspend the Operating License for Unit 1 and the Construction Permit for Unit 2 of the Salem Nuclear Generating Station."

SUPPLEMENTAL AFFIDAVIT OF ROBERT L. MITTL GENERAL MANAGER - PROJECTS PUBLIC SERVICE ELECTRIC AND GAS COMPANY STATE OF NEW JERSEY)

ROBERT L. MITTL, of full age, being duly sworn according to law, upon his oath deposes and says:

1. On September 17, 1976, I executed an affidavit concerning, inter alia, the status of construction efforts at the Salem Nuclear Generating Station in the Matter of Public Service Electric and Gas Company, Docket Nos. 50-272 and 50-311. Pursuant to the request of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission Staff, the following information is being submitted to supplement and update the information previously submitted in my affidavit.
2. The estimated initial costs of $250,000 per week to shutdown the site construction on Unit 2 is based upon the following weekly costs which would continue:

Utilities $ 7,600 Manual Personnel $ 48,800 Non-Manual Personnel $ 89,100 Equipment Rental $ 8,800 (large cranes and heavy equipment)

Security Personnel $ 11,000 PSE&G Site Personnel $ 73,300 Miscellaneous $ 11,400 (including taxes and insurance)

Total $250,000

3. For the week ending October 1, 1976, approximately 2175 workers were employed at the Salem Site with a payro11 of

$1, 114, 000 p*er week as indicated by the following data:

4. Considering this supplemented and updated information, I have reviewed my conclusion and opinion expressed in Paragraph 4 of my September 17, 1976 affidavit and find them to remain unaltered.
