- INTERVENORS, ALFRED C. COLm'!AN, JR.
& ELEANOR G. COL:EMAN'S (Salem Nuclear Generating REQUEST FOR EXTENSION Station, Unit No. l) OF TIME.- 10 CFR 2.711 (a)
Intervenors Alfred C. Coleman, Jr. and Eleanor G.
Coleman took exception to the Atomic* Safety & Licensing Board's (ASLB) Initial Decision of October 27, 1980.as granted by 10 CFR 2.710, 2.786 and 2.762 on November 11,
1980 and herein request an extension of tim,e to submit our Brief in Support of Exceptions until January Jl, 1981 for the following reasons*
- 1. The.State of New Jersey Department of Public Advocate, Division of Public Interest Advocacy has withdrawn (officially) as our counsel, per notice to the Atomic Safety &
Licensing Appeal Board (our copy is undated and without service list). We would appreciate you supplying us with aaated~-- -- -

- Localc--Public Document Room {Salem City Library).
J. Prior commitments at place:.: of' employ-ment make it* extremely dif'f'icult to meet the regulatory deadline.*
While it is neither our intent to burden the record nor delay this proceeding, we see no reason not to grant our request f'or extension in light of' the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's recommendation not to consider an appeal of' this decision {Howard K.
Shapar, Executive Legal Director, Of'f'ice of' the Executive Legal Director to Harold R. Denton,
- November J,, 1980) -~ This hasty recommendation was made seven (7) days af'ter the ASLB Initial Decision. We f'ail to understand the logic.of'
- Mr. Shapar's recommendation to the Commission not to accept an appeal unless a similar letter (unknown to the intervenors) f'rom the Appeal Board has already been draf'ted, accepting the Initial Decision of' -the ASLB and denying the intervenors appeal.
