LICENSEE'S RESPONSE TO MAILGRAM OF ALFRED C. COLEMAN, JR. AND ELEANOR G. COLEMAN On March 30, 1978-, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's Office of the Secretary, Docketing and Service Section, mailed to counsel for Public Service Electric and Gas Com-pany, Licensee in the captioned proceeding, a Mailgram from Alfred C. Coleman; Jr. and Eleanor G. Coleman ("Petitioners"),.

who had previously petitioned for leave to intervene re-garding a request for an increase in the amount of spent fuel to be stored at Salem Nuclear Generating Station, Unit l~ In the somewhat garbled Mailgram, Petitioners state,

  • inter alia, that "we live within- 10 miles of subject facil-

at this time.

As stated in "Licensee's Answer to Petition.for Leave*

to Intervene of Eleanor G*. Coleman and Alfred C. Coleman,"

dated. March 27, 1978, petitioners must set forth .the facts*

pertaining to their interest*and demonstrate, inter alia, how that interest would.be affected by the outcome of this particular limited proceeding.* where, as here,* the re-quested action is very limited, we submit that a mere statement of residence at some arbitrary.distance from the facility in question does not suffice for a showing of interest.and a demonstration of-how that interest is 2/

affected.-

Even as amended; the petition for leave to intervene of Alfred C. Coleman, Jr. and Eleanor G*. Coleman is deficient and, therefore, should be denied.
