Pursuant to the requirements of 10 C.F.R. §50.30(c) (2), on behalf of Public Service Electric & Gas Company, I am trans-mitting to you a copy of the application to increase the spent fuel storage capacity of Salem Nulcear Generating Station, Unit 1 from 264 to 1170 fuel assemblies. The updated appli-cation consists of the following:

1. Letter dated December 13, 1977, transmitting proposed changes to the radiological safety technical specifications.
2. Letter dated February 14, 1978, transmitting revision 1 to the application, superseding the transmittal of November 18, 1977.
