NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION DG-1353 PILOT REPORT COMMENTS
Dear Ms. Cochran:
This letter is in response to a request by Oklo to provide the NRC staffs written comments on the DG-1353 Pilot Report.
On December 11, 2018, a closed meeting was held between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff and representatives from Oklo, Inc. (Oklo) at the NRC offices at One White Flint North, 11555 Rockville Pike, North Bethesda, Maryland 20852, Room 3-B04. The purpose of this closed meeting was for Oklo personnel to engage the NRC on how Oklo implemented DG-1353, Guidance for a Technology-Inclusive, Risk-Informed, and Performance-Based Approach to Inform the Content Applications for Licenses, Certifications, and Approvals for Non-Light Water Reactors. In preparation for this meeting, Oklo submitted the DG-1353 Pilot Report, on October 31, 2018. The NRC staff prepared written comments for the meeting.
The NRC is providing the staffs Oklo DG-1353 Comment matrix as an enclosure to this letter.
These comments are not an official agency position. They represent a collection of comments and questions from staff with a varying degrees of understanding of the process described in DG-1353.
The NRC will withhold the staffs Oklo DG-1353 Comment matrix from public disclosure to allow Oklo the opportunity to identify proprietary or export controlled information. The results of this review should be submitted to the NRC within 10 business days of this letter. After 10 business days, the staffs Oklo PDC Report Comments matrix will be made available for public viewing through the Publicly Available Records component of NRCs ADAMS.
