OF JANUARY 8, 2019, WEBINAR FOR THE PUBLIC ON NRC OVERSIGHT OF PILGRIM NUCLEAR POWER PLANT DECOMMISSIONING ACTIVITIES On January 8, 2019, the NRC Region I office, in coordination with the Office of Nuclear Materials Safety and Safeguards (NMSS), conducted a webinar for the public on the agencys review of decommissioning activities involving the Pilgrim nuclear power plant. Staff from the Region I Division of Nuclear Materials Safety (DNMS), NMSS and the Office of Public Affairs (OPA) presented information on topics that included the NRCs review of the Post-Shutdown Decommissioning Activities Reports (PSDARs) for the plant, spent fuel storage issues and the timing of various decommissioning activities.
About 160 individuals registered for the webinar, which was held in advance of a public meeting planned for January 15, 2019, in Plymouth, MA, to solicit public comments on the PSDARs for the plant. During the webinar, the NRC staff answered multiple questions from participants on related decommissioning topics.
