Hello Dylan, Thank you for your prompt reply to our letter regarding the Rancho Seco ISFSI license renewal. I would like to discuss this project; your comment and next steps regarding the identified threatened species. Is there a time either before the Christmas and New Year Holidays or shortly there after that we could have a conference call? On the call would be you, Monika Coflin (NRCbackup PM for this action) and myself. If you feel the call would benefit from anyone else please feel free to invite them to participate. Once we identify a time frame I will send out a meeting notice with a conference call number.
Thank you for your additional time and attention to this action.
Kind regards, Jean

[External_Sender] CDFW Response for the Request for Information Regarding Endangered or Threated Species (Docket Number: 72-0011)
Dear Ms. Trefethen,
Good evening, my name is Dylan Wood, and I represent the State of California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) habitat conservation and permitting programs for Sacramento County. CDFW has received your REQUEST FOR INFORMATION REGARDING ENDANGERED OR THREATENED SPECIES OR THEIR CRITICIAL HABITAT FOR THE RANCHO SECO NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION INDEPENDENT SPENT FUEL STORAGE INSTALLATION LICENSE RENEWAL REQUEST (DOCKET NUMBER: 72-0011) on behalf of Cinthya Roman.
The Rancho Seco site proposed for license renewal is known habitat for our States Central Valley population of California Tiger Salamander (Ambystoma californiense), a species that is listed as Threated under both the Federal and California Endangered Species Acts. The site in question is primarily upland habitat for the salamanders, meaning they will be underground in rodent burrows or cracks.
My primary objective with these comments is to assist the NRC in identifying species and habitats. I would be happy to answer further specific questions should the agency need them.
Thank you,
Dylan Wood California Department of Fish and Wildlife Environmental Scientist (916) 358-2384
