RESULTS OF PERIODIC REVIEW OF REGULATORY GUIDE (RG) 1.30, QUALITY ASSURANCE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE INSTALLATION, INSPECTION, AND TESTING OF INSTRUMENTATION AND ELECTRIC EQUIPMENT (SAFETY GUIDE 30)
This memorandum documents the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) periodic review of Regulatory Guide (RG) 1.30, Revision 0, Quality Assurance Requirements for the Installation, Inspection, and Testing of Instrumentation and Electric Equipment (Safety Guide 30), which was issued in August 1972. The RG describes an acceptable method of complying with NRC regulations with regard to the quality assurance requirements for the installation, inspection, and testing of nuclear power plant instrumentation and electric equipment. As discussed in Management Directive 6.6, Regulatory Guides, the NRC staff reviews RGs approximately every 10 years to ensure that the RGs continue to provide useful guidance.
Documentation of the NRC staff review is enclosed.
Based on the results of the periodic review, the NRC staff concludes that a revision to RG 1.30 Revision 0 is warranted. The draft RG revision will be submitted to the NRCs Regulatory Guidance and Generic Issues Branch in the Office of Nuclear Research by the end of the 3rd quarter of fiscal year (FY) 2019, and is anticipated to be issued for public comment by the end of 1st quarter of FY20.
