- s EXTENT OF LOCAL MAXIMUM METAL.
- WATE.R 'REACTION PALISADES CYCLE 2 ECCS ANALYSIS The value reported for 11 D'.
1 fuel Loop 2 *break (XN-:76-4, Supplement 1, p~ge 6) is 11 less* than 13 percent.
11 The value reported for 110 11 fuel*toop*.l break cleanup calculation was 11 less than 17 percent.
11 These* two numbers ~ere.£onservatively ~stimated in order to expedite th~*documentation'of the EC~S a~alysis.
This was possible at that time as the ~xtent of metal-water reaction was clearly less.than the Appendi~ K limit.
A refined estimate of metal-water reaction shows the ~xt~nt to be* less than the cited ]3and*17 percent.
The refined estimates.for the Loop 2 and Loop l breaks are r~specti ve ly b.etween 8 - 9.percent and be.tween 9 - l 0 percent, the latter correspondi n*g. to the s ii ghtly higher PCT case.
it should be noted that the peak metal-wate~ reaction node is the ruptured no~e and not the PCT ~ode.
Th~ extent of.the ~etal-water reaction in all other nodes is significantly less than that of the rupture node.
