FITNESS FOR DUTY ALLEGATION By letter dated August 15, 1988, the NRC requested CPCo to investigate an allegation concerning the Fitness for Duty Program at the Palisades Nuclear Plant and requested that the results of our investigation be submitted to the NRC within 30 days of receipt of the letter.

Discussions with Mr. W L Axelson Chief, Reactor Projects Branch 2 resulted in approval of our request to extend the due date of the response until September 28, 198.8.

"The attached response analyzes the allegation and addresses the actions which have been taken.

Consumers Power Company requests that the attachment to this letter be withheld from public disclosure because it contains information which is exempt from disclosure in accordance with 10 CFR 2.790(a).
