Re:

January 23, 1975 Docket 50-255 License DPR-20 Palisades Plant Monthly - Steam Generator Flushing Report In accordance with Item (2) of Appendix C - Interim Technical Specifications, dated November 27, 1974, we are submitting the first Monthly Flushing Report.

This report covers the period from December 6, 1974 through January 5, 1975.

On December 6, 1974, the steam generators (SG) were cooled to approximately 100°F in preparation for cold lay-up.

The phosphate con-centration at this time was:

13 ppm 11A11 and 5 ppm "B."

During the remainder of the period, SG blowdown was only in-itiated for sampling or changes in lay-up conditions.

Several times the lay-up concentration of hydrazine was adjusted by lowering the level and refilling.

On January 4, 1975, the B-SG was drained (phosphates were approx-imately 16 ppm) and refilled to a hydrazine concentration of 200 ppm.

The A-SG was drained on January 5, 1975 (phosphate concentration during drain was approximately 50 ppm).

Both SG were refilled.

Samples taken after the refill yielded 15 ppm phosphates in A-SG and 7 ppm in B-SG.

Nitrogen cover gas was maintained during*the drain and refill operations.

The total amount of phosphates (including the draining opera-tions) removed to date from the SG was:

371 pounds from A-SG and 285 pounds.

The SG are in a cold lay-up condition at this time.

Yours very truly, WGF/smm Ralph B. Sewell CC:
