Mr Albert Schwencer, Chief Operating Reactor Branch No 1 US Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555 DOCKET 50-255 - LICENSE DPR-20 PALISADES PLANT - REACTOR VESSEL OVERPRESSURIZATION By letter dated August 11, 1976 you advised us of your concern regarding instances of reactor vessel overpressurization in pressurized water reactor facilities.
Your letter also req_uested a response which was to provide specific informatfon.
By lette~ dated September 3, 1976 we indicated that we would be able to respond to your req_uest in about 30 days.
Since our last response, we have met with Combustion Engf~eering (CE) and other CE owners and have begun the development of both short-term and long-term solu-ti.ons to this problem.
We now expect to submit short-term solutions for our Palisades Plant about November 1, 1976.
To effect a long-term solution(s), we plan to have a generic study performed and, following that, have specific plants considered.
Our goal for submittal of a long-term solution(s) is now* early February 1977.
Equipment modification sched-ule, if any, would be submitted at that time.
We appreciate receiving the detailed information requested in our September 3, 1976 letter. It has helped us in obtaining a better prospective of the problem.
