SUBJECT: TERMINATION OF NRC RADIOACTIVE MATERIALS LICENSE NO. 50-29426-01
By NRC Form 314 dated September 10, 2018, you informed the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory
Commission (NRC) that F. Robert Bell & Associates, wished to terminate NRC radioactive
materials License No. 50-29426-01. The NRC Form 314 dated September 10, 2018 stated that
all activities authorized under this license have ceased, and that all radioactive material
possessed under this license had been removed from your facility and returned to the
manufacturer.
The supporting documentation to the NRC Form 314 provided a copy of the most recent leak
test results for the sealed sources and transfer records. The leak test results document that
there was no evidence of leakage of radioactive material from the sealed sources. Based on
the review of the documentation submitted and the historical file, the staff concluded that all
licensable radioactive material has been removed from your facility identified as Main
Construction Camp (MCC) Building U-5, Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. This facility is suitable for
unrestricted use in accordance with 10 CFR 20.1402, Radiological Criteria for Unrestricted
Use. No further remediation or actions with respect to NRC regulated material are required.
Please find enclosed Amendment No. 2 to NRC License No. 50-29426-01authorizing your
license termination. An environmental assessment for this licensing action is not required since
this action is categorically excluded under 10 CFR 51.22(c)(20)(ii).
