Status Update on ROP Enhancement November 14, 2018 Antonios Zoulis, Senior Reactor Analyst NRR/DRA/APOB 11/13/2018 Public Meeting on Newly Developed Methods 1
Enhance ROP Framework Reviewing current procedures and guidance on inspection and enforcement of risk-informed initiatives (RIIs) 50.69, Initiatives 4b and 5b, etc.
- Completed evaluation of existing procedures and training that support Developed a project plant to assess best approach to oversight of these programs.
- Held several meetings with NRR/DIRS, NRR/DRA licensing branches to solicit feedback on project plan.
- Discussed extensively at the October SRA counterpart meetings.

Enhance ROP Framework (Cntd.)
- Working with Regions and Senior Reactor Analysts on current needs for inspectors.
- Working with Region III to explore synergies between this effort and the regional RIDM effort.
- NEI, with NRC participation, will be hosting a workshop January 30 - 31, 2019, to discuss:
lessons-learned from licensing reviews; industry experience with risk-informed initiatives; and NRC oversight of risk-informed initiatives
