Draft EA TMI-2 ISFSI Renewal-Pre-decisional.pdf Mr. Mark Clough,

Good afternoon.

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff has developed an environmental assessment (EA) in support of the NRC staffs review of the U.S. Department of Energy Idaho Operations Offices (DOE-IDs) application for the license renewal of the Three Mile Island Unit 2 (TMI-2) independent spent fuel storage installation (ISFSI). The draft EA evaluates the environmental impacts of an additional 20 years of the TMI-2 ISFSI operation as requested by DOE-ID.

Attached please find a courtesy copy of the draft EA for the States review and comment. We would appreciate any comments you may have within 30 days of receiving the NRC letter transmitting the draft EA. The enclosed draft EA and finding of no significant impact (FONSI) are not publically available and limited for use by the staff of the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality and should not be disclosed without prior NRC permission. The attached document is also password protected and I will follow-up separately so that it can open.

If you have any questions, please, feel free to contact me (contact information below) or my colleague Stacey Imboden at 301-415-2462 or Stacey.Imboden@nrc.gov.

Thank you.

Diana
