November 8, 2018 Enclosed is an application (XSNM3805), dated October 26, 2018, received by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission from Thermo Fisher Scientific. The application requests the export of 12 fission chambers containing high-enriched uranium for use in neutron flux monitoring systems at the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant, Units 1-4, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Assurances from UAE that the material will be subject to all of the terms and conditions of an agreement for cooperation are required. Your assistance in obtaining the necessary assurances will be appreciated.
Please note that the dollar amount on page one of the NRG Form 7 is proprietary information.
The NRC will not include this information in the public record and requests that the Executive Branch agencies protect it as well.
