Waste Control Specialists and their partner seek to transport up to 40,000 tons of spent fuel, high-level radioactive waste, from nuclear reactors around the country, by rail. Unfortunately, recent derailments of trains carrying toxic and hazardous loads show that our country's rail network is not adequate to insure a reasonable degree of safety for such an undertaking.
