SUMMARY
OF NOVEMBER 6, 2018, CLOSED TELECONFERENCE ON PWROG-15060, "PUMP SUCTION GAS ACCUMULATION OPERABILITY CRITERIA GUIDANCE" On November 6, 2018, the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held a closed teleconference with representatives of the Pressurized Water Reactor Owners Group (PWROG) and the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI). These organizations will be known collectively as the industry. The meeting was to discuss several clarifications related to PWROG comments on the draft safety evaluation (DSE) for PWROG-15060, "Pump Suction Gas Accumulation Operability Criteria Guidance," (Agencywide Document Access and Management System Package Accession No.: ML18290A527).
During the call, the NRC staff and industry engaged in a number of clarification discussions, questions, and answers. The focus of the discussions was understanding the data used to support figures in the equation. The NRC staff was not sure how the several data points were developed and used. It appeared to the NRC staff that figures did not reflect the data provided in the DSE comments. The details of the discussion were proprietary so no additional information is provided.
