Wednesday, November 15, 2017 7:12:25 AM Mr. Lochbaum:

I am contacting you to provide a status update on the petition for rulemaking you submitted to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), dated September 1, 2016, on behalf of the Union of Concerned Scientists and co-petitioners Jim Riccio (Greenpeace) and Geoffrey H. Fettus (Natural Resources Defense Council). In your petition, you requested that the NRC amend Part 50 of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR),

Domestic licensing of production and utilization facilities, to promulgate regulations applicable to nuclear power reactors with operating licenses issued by the NRC but in an extended outage. The NRC docketed your letter as petition for rulemaking PRM-50-114, and the NRC published a notice of receipt in the Federal Register on December 9, 2016 (81 FR 89011). The status of PRM-50-114 can be found at the NRC Rules and Petition page at https://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/doc-collections/rulemaking-ruleforum/active/PetitionIndex.html.
