REQUEST FOR HEARING IN THE MATTER OF HOLTEC INTERNATIONAL, HI-STORE CONSOLIDATED INTERIM STORAGE FACILITY, DOCKET NO. 72-1051 The Office of the Secretary has received multiple petitions to intervene and requests for hearing from various parties, as well as multiple petitions to participate as an interested local governmental body (see attached for list of petitioners). These requests were filed in response to a notice issued by the NRC Staff that provided an opportunity for a hearing on the license application request from Holtec International, located in Camden, New Jersey, requesting authorization to construct and operate the HI-STORE Consolidated Interim Storage Facility in Lea County, New Mexico. The notice was published in the Federal Register at 83 Fed. Reg. 32919, Holtec Internationals HI-STORE Consolidated Interim Storage Facility for Interim Storage of Spent Nuclear Fuel, dated July 16, 2018. The petitions to intervene and requests for hearing were timely filed via the Electronic Information Exchange (EIE) by September 14, 2018. Additionally, pursuant to the October 29, 2018 joint Order of the Secretary in the matters of Holtec International (HI-STORE Consolidated Interim Storage Facility) and Interim Storage Partners LLC (WCS Consolidated Interim Storage Facility), the Fasken Motion to Dismiss is also being referred to the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board Panel for consideration as a petition under 10 C.F.R. § 2.309.

The attached table lists the multiple requests for hearing and requests to participate as an interested local governmental body with their corresponding accessions numbers, which can be used to locate the documents in ADAMS and in the Electronic Hearing Docket.

This matter is being referred to you for appropriate action in accordance with 10 C.F.R. 2.346(i).

This referral is being served on the E-Filing service list for Holtec International, HI-STORE Consolidated Interim Storage Facility, Docket No. 72-1051.
