Once more the mindless, psychopathic nuclear industry is demanding "maximum profits"--they don't even break even--by externalizing costs at the expense of not just human but ALL life on our little planet at the margin of our universe. "Interim storage" will be rapidly forgotten by our criminal government and by The People, whose welfare is the last thing the nuclear industry cares about. "Out of sight, out of mind."
Earth is already contaminated by radiation essentially forever, given the half-lives of several isotopes recklessly released by power plants, and those related to nuclear arms production, making weapons no sane person or government would ever use. These weapons are not strategic: once exploded they circle the planet on the winds and affect some 7.4 billion people. And, alternative, clean and cheaper energies have already doomed the nuclear energy to the dustbin of history, with or without the bribery of politicians.
