Dear Cindy Bladey and NRC,

I urge the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to reject the proposal to consolidate high-level radioactive waste at a temporary storage facility in West Texas that could quite probably become a permanent facility. No safe, permanent location or disposal technology has as yet been found to isolate radioactive nuclear power plant fuel for the requisite millennia. Unknown tons of the most toxic materials on the planet would be shipped over decades on our nations roads, railroads, and waterways --- threatening current and future living creatures, lands and waterways along and beyond the routes. If a permanent repository were to open, the lethally radioactive toxins would be shipped again. The long-term durability of the casks that would contain these materials has not been tested. I am writing to request that the NRC extend the public comment period and hold public meetings in Texas and in the many other affected states. This proposal merits a full study of its potential health and safety threats.
