October 25, 2018 Mr. Alan Ruffman President Geomarine Associates, Ltd.

P.O. Box 41 Stn. M Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada B3J 2L4

Dear Mr. Ruffman,

Thank you very much for your letter of July 11, 2018 (Agencywide Document Access and Management System (ADAMS) No. ML18207A538), which I received on August 9th. I am sorry to say that I did not receive your original letter of May 11, 2018, so thank you for your persistence in sending the second letter. I also apologize for taking so long to respond to your second letter, but I needed to do some research on the report, which you cited in your letter:

Weston Geophysical Research, Inc. 1976, rev.1977 and 1981. Historical Seismicity of New England, BE-SG7601. Weston, Massachusetts. Contract Report prepared for Boston Edison Company, Boston, Massachusetts, as part of the Environmental Impact Assessment for the Pilgrim Unit No. 2, December; Revision 1, March 1977 (pp. 443-444); Revision 2, January 1981 (pp. 497 - 502 found in error and six pages were removed), 642 pp. plus Appendix A, Aftershocks of the Earthquake of November 18, 1755, pp. A-1-[A-16]; Appendix B, Effects at Sea From the Earthquake of November 18, 1755, pp. B-1-[B-22];

Submitted to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Agency (NRC), Washington, D.C.,

Docket No. 50-471; 690 pp. in toto I have asked one of our reference librarians to check the agencys holdings to see if we have a copy of this report and we do not have one, in either the agencys Public Document Room collection or in the Technical Library collection. As a result, I am not able to fulfill your request for a printed copy of this report. Since this is not an agency report, I also do not know if it was sent to any of the Canadian repository libraries. Thank you for your kind offer to send us a copy of your document, correcting the incorrect citations in the revised versions of the report; however, since we do not have the report or the revisions, it would not be beneficial for us to have a copy of your corrections list.

It is clear that you are a true scholar, by your diligence in seeking to make these corrections and ensure that future scholars will benefit by your work. I have learned from one of my NRC colleagues that you may be able to obtain a copy of the report from Entergy. I have been informed that the person to contact there is Peter Miner, pminer@entergy.com. He also might be interested in getting a copy of your corrections list.

A. Ruffman 2

Thank you very much for contacting me and for persisting in completing your mission.

Sincerely,

/RA/

Anna Therese McGowan Chief, Information Services Branch Office of the Chief Information Officer U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission
