Its unethical for Waste Control Specialists (WCS) to dump 40,000 tons of high-level radioactive waste in Andrews Count, TX for 40+ years. Radiation exposure can cause cancer, genetic damage, birth defects or death -- and -- such outcomes arent covered by homeowners insurance.
Unwisely, the NRC only held one public meeting regarding WCS proposal. Also, communities along the proposed rail transport route were not able to weigh in on WCS plan at NRC public hearings.
Additionally, the environmental impacts of transporting radioactive waste via rail were not part of WCS EIS.
Furthermore, WCS EIS failed to state remedies regarding radioactive waste storage/transport in the event of natural disasters.
Moreover, WCS failed to outline any emergency plans in the event of an accident or natural disaster.
Please protect the health, safety, and financial well-being of those who work or reside in Andrews Count, Texas -- and -- those who live (or work) near the proposed rail transport route. Please deny WCS license application.
