Enclosed is copy of a resolution passed by our State-wide Board of Directors at their meeting in Montgomery',

Alabama, May 27.

The resolution points out clearly the strong feeling the Alabama rural electric cooperatives have concerning the need to get Browns Perry Units ¹l and ¹2 back on the line. We will appreciate any consideration you can give this resolution.

Also, enclosed is a request to be a part of the hearing's planned concerning Browns Perry Nuclear Plant.

E:ight of these cooperatives are Tennessee Valley Authc rity power distr9butox s, serving approximately 96,000 consumers in North Alabama. A u~ajor activity of this organization is providing and protecting an adequate power supply for the people in ogr service arear'herefore, we are vitally concerned that the Tennessee Valley Authority be permitted tn operate its Browns Ferry units one and two, and, WTIZREAS, if the Tennesse'e'VN'3.'ey Autliokty'i's not permitted to load fue3, and test units one and two imn~ediately, this 2,200 megawatts of power will. not be'available for the summer load peaks and the Teruiessee Valley Authority's system will not have sufficient capaciOy along with necessary operating reserves to assure an adequate power supply for its service area, and/

VFtEREAS, the Tennessee Valley Authority will be required to contract for the necessary power, if available, from other systems to insure an adequate supply. This additional power supply will cost the con-sumers of Tennessee Valley Authority power an additional /0 million dol1ars; NOV THEREFORE BE IW RESOLVED, that" the Alabama Rural Electric Cooperative Association petitions the Nuclear Regulatory Commission nf the United States of Arrierica, in the interest of its members and others, that the Tennessee Valley Authority be oermitted to fuel and start tests on Elrowns Ferry units one and two.

Attention: Docketing and Service Section I have been informed that the Nuclear Regulatory Commission is holding a hearirig concerning the renewed operation of the Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant. I strongly support TVA's efforts to get the Browns Ferry plant back on the line as soon as possible.

I wish to make a limited appearance at the hearing either in writing or in person--to voice my support for the Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant.
