Dear Sir or Madam:
On March 6, 2017, the Department of Energy, Idaho Operations Office (DOE-ID) submitted a license renewal application (LRA) requesting a 20-year renewal of Three Mile Island Unit 2 (TMl-2) Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation (ISFSI) specific license SNM-2508 (Reference 1) (ADAMS Accession Nos. MLl 7089A501 and MLl 7075Al 99 through MLl 7075A201). The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) acknowledged acceptance of the LRA on May 5, 2017 (ADAMS Accession No. MLl 7125A284).
On January 29, 2018 DOE-ID received from the NRC a Request for Additional Information (RAI) (ADAMS Accession No. ML18030Al 72) pertaining to the technical review associated with the TMI-2 ISFSI LRA (Reference 2). Enclosure 1 to this letter contains the NRC RAis and provides the DOE-ID responses. Also enclosed (enclosure 2) with this submittal is Revision 1 of the LRA, which includes changes that reflect the responses to the RAis. As requested by the NRC in our June 7, 2018 public meeting, design drawings and an approved update to certain TMl-2 ISFSI FSAR information are being provided under separate cover. This updated FSAR information will be included in the next biennial TMI-2 ISFSI FSAR update.
