Dear Mr. Kim:
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff has completed the final safety evaluation report (FSER) for the Advanced Power Reactor 1400 (APR1400) design application submitted by Korea Electric Power Corporation/Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. (KEPCO/KHNP),
on December 23, 2014.
The staff is providing the enclosed FSER to KEPCO/KHNP for your information and will submit the FSER to the Commission in preparation for rulemaking. The staff will place the FSER in the NRCs public document room and will make it publicly available in the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ML18087A364) and on the NRCs public Web site after completion of your proprietary review. The NRC staffs issuance of this FSER does not constitute a commitment to issue the design certification or in any way affect the authority of the Commission in any rulemaking proceeding pursuant to Subpart H of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) Part 2 and Subpart B to 10 CFR Part 52.
