SUMMARY
FOR AUGUST 22, 2018, SOLICITATION OF STAKEHOLDER FEEDBACK REGARDING POTENTIAL LONG-TERM OPTIONS FOR THE MOCK ADVERSARY FORCE USED IN NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION-CONDUCTED FORCE-ON-FORCE INSPECTIONS On August 22, 2018, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held a public meeting at the NRC headquarters in Rockville, Maryland. The public meeting notice1 was issued on August 10, 2018, and was posted on the NRCs external (public) web page. The meeting was to gather stakeholder suggestions on potential long-term options for mock adversary force used in NRC-conducted force-on-force inspections. The purpose of the meeting was to provide industry with an opportunity to suggest additional mock adversary force options as well as suggest additional criteria that should be included in the NRCs evaluation process.
The meeting opened with a brief overview of the Joint Composite Adversary Force approach approved by the Commission in April 2018 followed by a description of the potential industry and the NRC mock adversary force options (Enclosure 1). Staff then discussed evaluation criteria that could be used in NRCs evaluation process. A transcript of the meeting is enclosed to this summary (Enclosure 2)
Approximately 40 people attended the meeting, which included members of the NRC staff, the nuclear industry, and licensees (Enclosure 3). The meeting concluded with the NRC staff telling stakeholders written feedback would be accepted.
