Smith Ranch-Highland Uranium Project license renewal draft Environmental Assessment for comment Good morning Mr. Currit, I am the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) environmental project manager for the review of Cameco Resources' request to renewal its NRC license for the Smith Ranch-Highland Uranium Project.
The NRC staff has completed a draft Environmental Assessment (EA) for this licensing action and are issuing it for state review and comment.
The attached correspondence addressed to Ms. Mary Hopkins will be going out in today's mail with regards to this matter.
Please note the attached draft EA is a non-public document and therefore viewing of this document should be limited.
A header has been placed on each page of the draft EA to this effect - while the header specifically identifies the "Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality and its staff," the NRC staff inadvertently did not also identify the Wyoming State Historic Preservation Office and its staff.
Because the draft EA is non-public, it is password-protected - a separate email to follow. A hard copy of the draft EA also is enclosed in the outgoing mail correspondence to Ms. Hopkins.
As stated in the letter, the NRC staff is requesting comments on the draft EA by August 31, 2018.
Thank you, James Park Project Manager NMSS/FCSE/ERB U.S. NRC 301-415-6954 E-Mail to and from me, in connection with the transaction of public business, is subject to the Wyoming Public Records Act and may be disclosed to third parties.
