FLORIDAPOWER & LIGHTCOMPANY February 2,

1978 L-78-41 Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation Attention:

Mr. Victor Stello, Director Division of Operating Reactors U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D.C.

Dear Mr. Stello:

Re:

Turkey Point Unit 4 Docket. No.

50-251 Pum and Valve Pro ram Our letter of December 9,

1977 (L-77-372) stated that we had made numerous changes to our Turkey Point Unit 4 pump and valve testing program as a result of clarifying questions received from your staff, and that we planned to submit a revised program within a few weeks after it had been reviewed and approved by our on-site and off-site review groups.

The purpose of this letter is to inform you that the review and approval process has been delayed by a related revision to our leak testing pro-gram.

Ne expect the issue to be resolved soon, at which time the revised pump and valve program will be forwarded to your office.

Our goal is to submit the revised program and associated Technical Specifications by about March 1, 1978.

Ne will keep you informed of our progress in this matter.

Xn addition to revising the pump and valve test program, we are in the process of answering several outstanding questions from a September 7,

1977 letter from your staff.

They too will be addressed in our March 1 submittal.

Very truly yours, Robert E. Uhrig Vice President REU/MAS/lah cc:
