Dear Mr. Stello:

Q4 Re: Turkey Point Unit 4 Docket Number 50-251 Pum 6 Valve Testin Pro ram The next twenty-month pump and valve testing period in accordance with 10 CFR 50.55a(g) will begin in September 1978. An acceptable pump and valve test program for the current 20-month period is being developed in conjunction with members of your staff. ',Me expect that the program as developed for the current period will also be applicable to the period beginning in September, 1978.

We are therefore not planning to submit a separate program for the next period.

This approach is in keeping with our understanding of your staff's guidance on the implementation of the pump and valve testing program required by 10 CFR 50.55a(g).

Please call me if you have any question in this matter.

Very yours, Robert E. Uhrig Vice President REU/GDW/mb cc: Mr. James P. O'Reilly, Region II Robert Lowenstein, Esquire 7gg5l0017 s +
