3-AND 4 In our letter dated Hay ll, 1976, we requested that you conduct an examination of your facility to compare its existing fire protection provisions with the guidelines in the Standard Review Plan 9.5.1, "Fire Protection,"
dated ltay 1, 1976, which included Br anch Technical Position APCSB 9.5-1.
We are enclosing a copy of Appendix-A to Branch Technical Position APCSB 9.5-1, "Guidelines for Fire Protection For, Nuclear Power P'lants Docketed Prior to July', 1976" (Enclosure 1).
This document presents certain acceptable alternatives for operating plants to the positions given in APCSS 9. 5-1.
We are sending this to you for your information because we will be using Appendix A in our evaluation of your plant.
After reviewin'g the licensee submittals made to date in response to our letter, we believe your initial response may not adequate'ly present the results of your fire hazards analysis.
Me stress that in order to begin a re-evaluation of the fire protection program of your facility, you must perform a fire hazards analysis with the assistance and technical d)rection of a qualified fire protection engineer.
In order for us to evaluate your fire hazards analysis we require that you submit the, results in sufficient detail.
To provide further guidance, we are enclosing a copy of "Supplementary Guidance on Information tfeeded For Fire Protection ProgramI Evaluation" (Enclosure 2).
This document indicates the type of information that will enable us to evaluate the total fire hazards analysis for your facility.
This type of information may or may not be included in the detailed point-by-point comparisorr with Standard Review Plan 9.5.1 depending upon how you present'that information.
