ADDITIONAL INFORMATION APPENDI I Turkey Point Units 3 and 4
Docket Nos.
50-250 and 50-251 In response to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's request of December 9, 1976, the following additional information and materials are submitted to aid the Commission in its evaluation of the APPENDIX I analysis for Turkey Point, Units 3 and 4.
REPRESENTATIVE METEOROLOGICAL DATA a 0 Attachment A provides information on the annual joint frequency distributions of wind speed and wind direction by atmospheric stability.
All measurements were made at levels applicable to release point elevations.
b.
These data (as given in Attachment A) are representative of the meteorological data being collected from the sensors at Turkey Point and analyzed by expert meteorol-ogists.
They are collected at the onsite tower installa-tions by the use of approved, durable meteorological instruments suitable for accurate, engineering estimates of diffusion climatology.
The services of an expert meteorological group were used in selecting and estab-lishing the site and in the purchase and installation of the meteorological instruments.
Routine maintenace and monthly instrument calibrations are carried out to ensure proper data acquisition.
The acquired data are processed by a protocol that includes onsite review and evaluation of data charts and the organization of data by staff specialists for submission to a computer center for analysis and for audit and final summation by DAMES 6
MOORE.
DAMES MOORE provides assistance in determining the validity and accuracy of the data.
They have also been respon-sible for developing the calculational models used to compute all on-site meteorological data.
As a result of these efforts, Florida Power 6= Light.
Company believes that its meteorological program for Turkey Point has been properly organized and equipped to assess the diffusion parameters characteristic of the site.
These parameters provide a dispersion clima-tology that is more than adequate for use in the safety planning of routine radioactive effluent releases and as a means of determining the appropriately conserva-tive meteorological variables to be used in estimating the potential consequences of hypothetical accidents.
